Our Founder: Betty Walker
Betty Walker, Founder, of Cherry Village serves as the Management Consultant and Operations Adviser.
Since inception Ms. Walker has been involved in developing and managing Cherry Village and it’s day to day operation. Her vision and commitment to the business and continued development of affordable housing is recognized by the many awards received from industry and community organizations for her expertise and outstanding accomplishments provided for the affordable housing and senior living industry.
Ms. Walker has a strong social service background; with emphasis on the identified needs of the aged, elderly, seniors, handicapped, and disabled. She has dedicated her life to performing as a liaison between various levels of management within corporate structure in the day-to-day activities.
As CEO in previous Model City Miami Developments, her position provided opportunity to become an expert and specialist with comprehensive non-profit development corporation within the framework of policy driven, legal housing codes, and government regulations.
The need for humane and responsible affordable housing best practices gave way to a lifetime study, research, and development of programs, by CEO Walker, which sought to alleviate conditions caused by substandard housing and an inadequate supply of housing for the community of senior living, in addition to moderate low/moderate income families.
In the next 15 years, according to the US Census Bureau, seniors living in poverty will increase by 60%.
Under the leadership of Betty Walker, Cherry Village Apartments board members and staff have been an advocate of affordable housing since its inception.
Our current and proposed housing developments are shaped by our commitment to a philosophy of aging gracefully, which supports the right of each resident to “age in place” in the least restrictive environment.
Cherry Village Apartments are designed to meet the physical, social, psychological and economic needs of the aged, elderly, seniors, disabled, and handicapped individuals and families.
Care giving outreach and community involvement provides a successful program focused on identifying the needs of the senior community.
This includes a safe, attractive residence that encourages autonomy with support from our staff, and recognizing the need for respectful compassion for our residents.
